What Do Pigeons Eat?
Pigeons are mainly grain eaters. A typical pigeon diet is built around a blend of grains and seeds, supported by clean water and grit. Our mixes make it easy to give your birds a consistent, well-balanced diet.
What Each Grain in the Mix Adds
Corn (maize) is the main energy grain and also supplies carotenoids. Peas are a legume, so they carry more protein than cereal grains. Millet is a small seed that young and small birds pick up easily. Sunflower seed is rich in oil, a concentrated energy source to use in moderation.
Mixing several grains matters: a mix with fewer than four grain types is often short of lysine, an essential amino acid, so a varied mix gives a better protein balance than a single grain.

Grains are naturally low in calcium and sodium. Keep pigeon grit available, and add a mineral supplement as well, because shell grit alone does not supply every mineral that breeding and racing birds need.
Give clean, fresh water at all times. In UAE summer heat, change it at least daily, keep drinkers in the shade and clean them often.
Feeding Through the Year
Breeding pairs feeding young need a higher-protein mix. Racing birds need energy matched to the work: lighter feeding for short races and a heavier, higher-energy mix before long races. During the moult, birds need good protein to grow strong new feathers. Too much protein when birds are not working is simply stored as fat.
